Fluffy pagans like to complain that witch costumes are religiously offensive and that Hallowe’en is a direct and intentional attack on (usually) Wiccan beliefs.

There’s a lot of underlying racism in a lot of what people take to just be part of Neo-Paganism - there’s a LOT of appropriation. There’s also a lot of racism and classism in pagan organizations and in stores (which is one of the main reasons pagansofcolor exists), so I wouldn’t say it’s people trying to actively spread racist ideologies — a lot of it is just people being passively racist.
But yes, I would agree that Neo-Paganism, in and of itself, is not racist. It’s just very very very easy for it to become racist, and pagans need to be aware of that.
Overconcern for Satanic Pagans’ feelings
Once again, I don’t get it. People, no it is NOT OKAY to assume that any given Pagan is a Satan worshipper. Seriously, it ISN’T. And saying that it’s not okay does NOT erase the existence of Satanic Pagans. It acknowledges the existence of those of us who are not, and says that our existence is valid of itself, without reference to Satanists.
So seriously sick of this crap. I don’t assume that any given Pagan worships Hekate. So why is it ok for some Fish-head to assume that my lack of regard for their god-on-a-stick means that I worship Satan, just because some Satanist somewhere might get his balls twisted?
This is why you say things like, “As a Pagan, I don’t worship Satan or any equivalent being.” See? You get to be straightforward and accurate, AND you avoid sweeping a whole bunch of your fellow Pagans under the bus.
The assumption that all Pagans worship Satan is, among Christians, common enough that it needs to be combatted. BUT, it can be combatted without insulting, denying and angering Satanist Pagans. (You get kudos, by the way, for managing to be nasty to two different religious groups in a single sentence. That takes real talent, that does! [/sarcasm])

There is a WORLD of difference between “Not all pagans worship or acknowledge Satan” and “Pagans are not Satanists”/”Paganism has nothing to do with Satan”.
I have NEVER seen the top one called out. You’re whining about people having a problem with the latter which DOES ERASE PEOPLE.

I was actually floored when I saw the term “white shaming” crop up. You(we, really, as white people) should feel ashamed if this is the way your mind works. I am so pro this Pagans of Colour blog. It’s high time the world was reminded that Pagans of Colour have always existed and continue to do so.
